COME AND TEST YOUR CHESS SKILLS AGAINST SOME OF CUBA’S BEST AND ENJOY THE VIBRANT NIGHT LIFE OF HAVANA. THIS WILL BE THE FIRST OF A NUMBER OF CHESS TOURS PLANNED FOR 2004/2005 AND EARLY BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL IF YOU ARE INTERESTED. FOLLOWING IS A DAILY ITINERARY WHICH MAY HAVE CHANGES BASED ON AVAILABILITY OF FASCILLITIES AND CLUB SCHEDULES. THE PRICE OFFERED IS BASED ON A MINIMUM GROUP SIZE OF 10.

DAY 1-Arrive in Havana and transfer to the recently refurbished Kohly hotel in a quiet neighbourhood approximately 15 minutes from “Old Havana”. Dinner will be at the hotel and your evening is free.

DAY 2-Breakfast and transfer to your first Cuban chess club for an introduction to club member and a chance to indulge yourself. The afternoon is free and you may want to return to the hotel to relax, play more chess with club members or explore the city of Havana.

DAY 3-Breakfast followed by a city tour to discover the history, culture and importance of this majestic city. The afternoon will take you to another chess club with introductions and time to play with club members. We will return to the hotel for dinner.

DAY 4-Breakfast and a morning of indulging in chess matches with the afternoon dedicated to the discovery of some of Cuba’s former chess masters such as Capablanca. Dinner served at the hotel and night free to take in some Cuban entertainment.

DAY 5-Breakfast and a day off to discovery the rural side of Cuba with a tour to the province of Pinar del Rio, the richest tobacco growing area of Cuba. Our destination will be the spectacular area of the Vinales valley with a guided tour of the surrounding sights. Lunch will be included this day with a return to the hotel for dinner.

DAY 6-Breakfast and a full day of indulging yourself in chess or you can take a break and visit any number of fascinating attractions in this city of over two million inhabitants. Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 7-Breakfast and this will be a FREE day. By now you will be familiar with many aspects of Havana and can chose how you will spend your final day. We will go out this evening for dinner at a restaurant at the base of El Morro castle and following dinner, take in the historical “canon shot performance”. Rest of the night is free to indulge.

DAY 8-Breakfast and transfer to the airport.

$25 usd departure fee

Early booking essential and minimum group size is 10 people. You don’t have to be a chess player to come on this tour.
TO BOOK – A $500 deposit is required with full refund if tour is cancelled. If you are using a credit card for payment there will be a 5% office admin fee, otherwise you can send a cheque made out to Associated Travel (mention chess tour)

Deposit can be made by credit card, but remainder should be paid by cheque made payable to Associated Travel and sent to address included at least 30 days before departure.
